Top F1 Journalist Martin Brundle Says He Lost Respect for Pierre Gasly After Gutting the 2024 Season

In a candid interview, renowned Formula 1 journalist Martin Brundle expressed his disappointment with Pierre Gasly’s performance during the 2024 season. Brundle, who has long been an advocate for Gasly’s talent, highlighted the French driver’s struggles to adapt to the intense pressures of the sport, particularly after joining Alpine.

Brundle noted that Gasly’s inconsistency on track and off, including a series of mistakes that affected his race results, have tarnished his reputation in the eyes of fans and pundits alike. “I had high hopes for him, especially after his stint at AlphaTauri,” Brundle stated. “But this season has been tough to watch. It’s disappointing when a driver of his caliber doesn’t seem to deliver when it counts.”

Gasly’s challenges have sparked discussions about the impact of pressure in F1, with Brundle suggesting that the shift to a new team might have contributed to his struggles. “The expectations were high, and it seems the weight of those expectations may have been too much,” he commented.

As the season continues, many are left wondering whether Gasly can turn things around and regain the respect of journalists and fans alike, including the ever-critical Martin Brundle.
