CINCINNATI SETBACK: Star QB Brendan Sorsby Out for Extended Period with Severe Shoulder Injury

Cincinnati, OH – Cincinnati Bearcats’ championship aspirations, star quarterback Brendan Sorsby will miss an extended period due to a severe shoulder injury, the team announced yesterday.

Sorsby, a junior and two-year starter, suffered the injury during Saturday’s matchup against AAC rival, SMU. Initial diagnoses indicated a severe shoulder sprain, but further evaluation revealed significant damage requiring surgery.

“Brendan’s health is our top priority,” said Cincinnati head coach, Ryan Eisner. “We’re committed to supporting him through this challenging time.”

The Bearcats’ medical staff estimates Sorsby’s recovery will take approximately four months, effectively ending his season.

“This is a tremendous setback for our team,” Eisner acknowledged. “Brendan’s leadership and talent are irreplaceable, but we must adapt.”

Redshirt sophomore, Drew Altemuehle, is slated to assume starting duties.

“Drew’s preparedness and poise will be crucial,” said quarterbacks coach, Kenny Ingram. “We’re confident in his ability to lead this offense.”

Altemuehle has seen limited action in relief roles but possesses impressive physical skills.

“Brendan’s injury is tough, but we trust Drew to step up,” said wide receiver, Tyler Scott. “We’ll rally around him.”

The Bearcats’ title hopes, while diminished, remain intact.

“We’ll adjust our game plan to suit Drew’s strengths,” Eisner emphasized. “Our goals remain unchanged.”

Cincinnati’s depth chart will undergo significant adjustments.

“Injuries are unfortunate, but opportunities arise,” said athletic director, John Cunningham. “We’re committed to supporting our student-athletes.”

Sorsby’s absence will be deeply felt.

“Brendan’s intangibles – leadership, work ethic – are contagious,” Ingram noted. “His presence will still be felt in meetings and practice.”

The Bearcats’ next matchup against Memphis looms large.

“We must respond resiliently,” Eisner stressed. “Our season’s defining moments lie ahead.”
